Disruption to the train services in west of Leppävaara started on Monday and will continue until July 26 due to track renovation works, said the Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (Helsingin seudun liikenne – HSL).

In addition, shorter disruptions of one to two days will take place in autumn.

The disruptions will affect commuter train services from Leppävaara towards Kauklahti, Kirkkonummi and Siuntio.

There will also be shorter service disruptions of one to two days in September and October.

During the disruptions, there will be no train services west of Leppävaara. Westbound train services from Leppävaara will be replaced by buses.

E, U, L and Y trains will not run. The disruptions will also affect long-distance train services on the Coastal Line.

During the service disruption from 22 June to 26 July, X trains will operate between Helsinki and Leppävaara, running every 15 minutes.

During this period, trains will not stop at Valimo, Pitäjänmäki and Mäkkylä stations.

E and U trains will run as usual.

The Espoo Rail Line project carried out by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency entails the construction of two new tracks between Leppävaara and Kauklahti.

As a result, train services will run every 10 minutes from Helsinki to Kauklahti instead of Leppävaara.

The disrupted train services will be replaced by buses.

Replacement buses have open fare collection. Bicycles are not allowed on replacement buses because there is no space to carry them safely.

The journey times of rail replacement buses can be significantly longer than those of trains. In most cases, bus journey times are 10–20 minutes longer than by train, but on long journeys, the increase in journey time may be more than 30 minutes.
