1 killed in train mishap at level crossing in Turku

One person was killed a train accident at a level crossing in Turku on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The accident took place at about 5:30 p.m. when a passenger train knocked down the person at Vaalantie level crossing.

The person died on the spot.

Responding to an alarm, Rescue Service people and police rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the victim.

Police, however, did not divulge detail about the accident and the identity of the deceased.

They did not suspect any crime link to the death.

The Accident Investigation Board and Police are investigating into the case to find out the reason behind the accident.
