1 killed in train mishap in Vaasa

One person was killed in a train accident in in Vaasa, a coastal municipality under Ostrobothnia region on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The accident took place at about 3:00 p.m. when the train knocked down the person at the Old City area. The person died on the spot.

The police, however, did not divulge the details about the incident and the identity of the victim.

Police did not suspect any crime link to the incident.

The Accident Investigation Board and Police is investigating into the incident to find out the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The accident disrupted rail communications on the track temporarily.
