1 stabbed in Helsinki in broad daylight

One person came under knife attack at Sörnäinen in Helsinki on Wednesday afternoon, police said in a press release.

The stabbing took place at about 4:10 p.m. near Vaasanaukio when a miscreant attacked the victim with a sharp weapon and fled away.

Responding to an alarm, police and rescue service people rushed to the spot and took the wounded person to hospital.

Police are trying to arrest the suspect.

Police, however, did not disclose details about the incident and the identities of the victim and the suspect at the preliminary stage of the investigation.

They are investigating into the incident as attempted murder.
