1 stabbed in Helsinki, suspect held

One person came under knife attack near Sörnäinen metro station in Helsinki on Sunday afternoon, police said in a press release.

The stabbing took place at about 3:10 p.m. at Kurvi area when a man in his 40s attacked the victim with a sharp weapon at the middle part of the body.

Responding to an alarm, police and rescue service people rushed to the spot and took the wounded person to hospital.

Police also arrested the suspect from the nearby area immediately after the incident.

Police, however, did not disclose details about the incident and the identities of the victim and the suspect at the preliminary stage of the investigation.

They are investigating into the incident as attempted murder.
