Pilot killed, 1 injured in light plane crash at Jämijärvi

One person was killed and another injured when a light plane crashed at Jämijärvi, a municipality in Western Finland under Satakunta region on Saturday morning, police said.
The accident took place at about 10:00 a.m. near Jämijärvi Airfield after the two-seater ultralight aircraft took off from the airfield.
The pilot, a middle-aged man was killed in the accident while the passenger was injured critically.
The injured person was taken to hospital.
Police, however, did not divulge the details identities of the deceased and the wounded person.
The reason behind the accident could not be known immediately and police are investigating into the accident to find out more information in this regard.
News agency Xinhua, quoting national broadcaster Yle's meteorologist Annina Valtonen reported that local wind speeds were low when the incident occurred, ruling out weather conditions as a contributing factor.
Jämijärvi Airport experiences increased activity during the summer, attracting parachutists, glider pilots, and light aircraft enthusiasts.
The Finnish Aviation Association has likened ultralight aircraft to the "Ferraris of aviation" due to their speed and lightweight construction.
