Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party) lawmaker Juho Eerola faces trial for fuelling ethnic agitation with a Facebook post in which he claimed to have spat at a Romanian beggar.

The police on Thursday said they have already completed the preliminary investigation into the post and handed over the probe report to the prosecutors for consideration of charges, reported the national broadcaster Yle quoting the news agency STT.

The case is now under the considerations of prosecutors for charge-framing, said Detective Inspector Jouni Niskanen to the STT, but he refused to divulge any more detail.

Eerola, the third deputy chairperson of Perussuomalaiset has denied committing any offence. In his post on Facebook he said to have spat at a Roma panhandler and described the Romanian Roma as criminals.

Earlier, Perussuomalaiset Chair Jussi Halla-aho said ethnic agitation is an unclear offence that could be used for political purpose.

To Yle he said he had a brief discussion with Eerola about the matter and did not find any reason for taking action based on suspicion.

The Supreme Court in 2012 imposed a fine on Halla-aho for hosting anti-Islam blog posts since back in 2008.
