The Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command will procure 18 next-generation Jurmo-class landing craft for the Finnish Navy from Marine Alutech Oy Ab.

The Defence Forces and the Marine Alutech Oy Ab have signed a contract for the delivery of the vessels, said an official press release on Tuesday.

The total value of the procurement is 25,2 million euros.

The first Jurmo-class vessels entered service in the early 2000s. Subsequently and a number of the craft currently in service underwent a mid-life overhaul programme around the turn of the 2020s.

The new craft will retain the external appearance of previously acquired vessels, while incorporating structural upgrades based on operational experience and current capability requirements. Consequently, the new vessels are designated Jurmo-NG (Next Generation).

The procurement will enhance and secure the mobility of the Finnish Navy's coastal troops in the archipelago environment.

The primary tasks of the Jurmo-class landing craft are the transportation and sustainment of naval units operating in the archipelago.

Deliveries of the new craft will commence during 2027 and be completed by the end of 2029.
