The North Savo District Court on Friday sentenced one person to life-term imprisonment for killing one person and wounding nine others in a sword attack at the Savo Vocational School in Kuopio last year.
The court awarded the punishment to the convict as the charges of murder and attempted murder brought against him were proved beyond doubt.
He was also convicted of some other crimes such as vandalism, arson and assault.
The 26-year-old convict is a native-born Finnish citizen. He is also a student of the school where he killed a young Ukrainian woman in the sword attack on 1 October, 2019.
The court in the verdict observed that the convict named Joel Marin was physically and mentally sound during the attack, which he committed in a cool brain.
The convict confessed to one murder and three attempted murders.
On an average the term of life sentence in Finland is about 14.5 years, although it could last about 22 years.
