Prime Minister Sanna Marin on Sunday said the government would issue new recommendations for all regions regarding coronavirus management and restrictions.

Speaking at the Prime Minister’s Interview Hour on Yle’s Radio Suomi, she, however, said that the government had taken sufficient measures to tackle the coronavirus situation, reported the national broadcaster Yle.

She said it is not likely that people in some areas don’t get ideas and guidelines following the coronavirus situation.

The PM reiterated her own and the whole cabinet’s support to Social Affairs and Health Minister Krista Kiuru, following criticism of Kiuru’s performance in regards to coping with coronavirus endemic by an opposition party in parliament.

The opposition Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party-NCP) on Friday held Krista Kiuru responsible for disseminating misleading information on the use of masks during the coronavirus pandemic and decided to bring a no-confidence motion in parliament against her, reports the local media.

Kokoomus Parliamentary Group Chairman Kai Mykkänen and Lawmaker Mia Laiho raised the issue of no-confidence motion, with NCP Chief Petteri Orpo endorsing it.

Marin said her government has full confidence in Minister Kiuru regarding coping properly with the difficult coronavirus situation.

“The government relied on the latest advice from health authorities in fighting the epidemic. This has also been the case for the mask recommendation. Kiuru has performed her duties in an exceptionally difficult situation,” Marin wrote in her Twitter post on Friday.
