About one-third people of Finland are interested to relocate to get a new job, if they become unemployed, reported a Nordea Bank survey released on Wednesday.
Youths were found more interested to move to search job, while people above 50 were found reluctant to relocate.
More than 40 per cent of the respondents of all ages, however, expressed unwillingness to move for job search, while about 25 per cent failed to determine what to do.
“Under this circumstance, when unemployment is on the rise, it would be worth considering incentivising and helping those searching for jobs to move,” said Nordea Economist Juho Kostiainen n a statement, adding that the government may take measures to make the relocation easier.
He said that lowering the transfer tax, which a buyer usually pays when purchasing shares in a housing company or other stocks, may be an effective measure.
Kostiainen also said that policymakers could tighten the obligations for accepting jobs when they are offered to the unemployed people.
Kantar TNS conducted the survey for Nordea through online interviews on 11 September to 18 September, with 1,083 people aged from 18 to 79 responding.
