Prime Minister Sanna Marin was tested for coronavirus and the result was negative, said the prime minister in a Twitter post on Wednesday afternoon
“The result of the corona test was negative. However, as the respiratory symptoms remain, I will continue to work remotely for the time being…,” she wrote in the twit in Finnish, adding that her health condition was good, showing mild symptoms.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Marin announced that she would get tested again for COVID-19 following some respiratory symptoms.
She attended her party’s parliamentary group meeting and a government meeting using telecommunications.
She also attended an extraordinary video meeting of the members of the European Council on Wednesday that discussed the situation in Belarus.
Earlier, on 23 April, Marin went to self-quarantine after a worker of her official residence Kesäranta had become infected with coronavirus. She worked remotely from the Kesäranta as a precautionary measure.
On 7 May, all the ministers including the PM started to work remotely, when Social Affairs and Health Minister Aino-Kaisa Pekonen and Employment Minister Tuula Haatainen went into self-quarantine after their suspected exposure to coronavirus during government negotiations.
On 25 May, the prime minister took a weeklong sick leave and got tested for COVID-19 after she had developed flu-like symptoms. But the test result was negative.
