New car registration drops by 20% in May

A total of 7,941 new passenger cars were registered in May 2022, which was 20 % fewer than one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.
In all, 15,708 new vehicles were registered in May. First registrations decreased by 18 % from the corresponding month of the previous year.
The component shortage in the motor industry causes delays in the production of new cars.
Of first-time registered passenger cars, 12 % were electric. The number of their registrations was 992, or 3 % higher than one year earlier.
Used imported passenger cars numbered 4,121, which was 26 % more than one year earlier.
