New car registration rises by 2% in June

A total of 7,564 new passenger cars were registered in June 2026, which was 2 per cent more than one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

In all, 12,926 new vehicles were registered in June. First registrations increased by 3 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.

Meanwhile, in January to June period of 2026, a total of 37,257 new passenger cars were registered, which was about as much as one year earlier.

Of first-time registered passenger cars in June 2026, 48 per cent were fully electric.

The number of electric car registrations was 3,642, or 46 per cent higher than one year earlier.

In all, 2,711 new petrol-fuelled passenger cars were registered in June, which was 12 per cent fewer than one year earlier.
