New car registration drops by 22.9% in Feb

A total of 11,403 new motor vehicles were registered in Finland in February, of which 7,480 were automobiles, according to Statistics Finland.

First registrations decreased by 17.3 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.

In February the number of new passenger cars registered was 6,303, which was 22.9 per cent down from the year before.

The share of new electric passenger cars was 12.5 per cent and plug-in hybrid electric cars 21.6 per cent.

A total of 2,145 new electric and plug-in hybrid electric cars were registered, which was 1.9 per cent up from the year before.

The numbers are exclusive of the vehicles on the Åland Islands.

In the January to February period of 2022 a total of 25,339 vehicles were first registered.

Compared to the year before, there was a decrease of 12.7 per cent.

The number of passenger cars first registered in the January to February period was 14,187, which is 19.2 per cent down from the year before.

The most common passenger car makes first registered in the January to February period were Toyota, Volvo and Kia.
