China's national giant panda conservation and research center released a video on Wednesday featuring 30 giant panda cubs born in 2025, extending Chinese New Year greetings to audiences around the world, reported Xinhua.
The cubs were born last year at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda and the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, two institutions under the national giant panda conservation and research center.
The footage shows the fluffy cubs making their first public appearance in festive settings at the institutions' breeding bases, which were decorated with traditional Chinese red lanterns. Elements featuring the horse, the zodiac animal for the upcoming Chinese New Year, were prominent, including wooden horses.
In the clip, keepers were seen holding the cubs, whose playful movements quickly won people's hearts. Some peered curiously at bamboo lanterns, while others climbed onto the wooden horses.
A panda cub born in Indonesia last year also appeared in the festive video.
According to the center, the two Chinese institutions successfully bred a total of 45 giant pandas in 2025.
The national giant panda conservation and research center, which integrates the resources from the two institutions, was inaugurated in 2023 as a world-class platform for giant panda research cooperation and exchange.
The Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, falls on Feb. 17 this year.
