Foreign tourist inflow rises by 9% in December

The number of nights spent by non-resident tourists at Finnish accommodation establishments increased by nine per cent in December 2025 from the previous year, according to Statistics Finland.

According to the preliminary data, 1.93 million overnight stays were recorded at accommodation establishments in December 2025.

The number of nights spent by resident tourists was 0.95 million and that of nights spent by non-resident tourists 0.98 million.

The total number of overnight stays increased by three per cent from the year before.

The number of overnight stays by resident tourists went down by three per cent from the previous year.

The highest number of foreign nights were from the United Kingdom, Germany and France.

The highest number of overnight stays was recorded in Lapland, where the number of overnight stays by non-resident tourists, 0.55 million, grew by six per cent from the year before.

In Lapland, the hotel room occupancy rate was 79 per cent and in the whole country 51 per cent.

The average price of a hotel room was EUR 168.

The average price of a hotel room was highest in Lapland, EUR 356.
