National flag carrier Finnair will cancel about 80 flights on Friday again due to a series of strikes announced by the trade unions, said Finnair.
The Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) decided to observe the strike as the unions unanimously rejected the negotiation proposal made by the mediator regarding renewal of the collective agreement for aviation services.
The IAU has announced the four-hour strikes on Friday at Helsinki Airport, causing extensive disruptions to traffic, said Finnair.
According to IAU, the strikes will affect different work shifts and will impact all essential ground services such as baggage and ground handling operations.
Due to the strike, Finnair will cancel about 80 flights on Friday and these cancellations will affect the travel plans of about 8000 passengers.
Passengers with bookings on July 4 will receive information from Finnair in case their flight is cancelled.
Passengers will receive a new routing based on the contact details in their booking.
Depending on availability, the proposed new route can be changed. Alternatively, passengers may cancel their trip and request a refund for the ticket.
The IAU has also announced strike on July 7, 16, 18, 21, and 23.
The potential impacts of these strikes are still being assessed and Finnair will notify affected customers directly of cancellations two days in advance.
Finnair urged the passengers with bookings on 7 July to change their travel date already now.
Flights can be rescheduled to an earlier date or postponed until the end of September.
Finnair apologises for the inconvenience and uncertainty caused by the situation.
