Finnish airports see higher Int´l passengers, lower domestic in July

A total of 1.7 million passengers flew through Finnish airports in July 2024, according to Statistics Finland.

The total number of passengers increased by 8 per cent compared to July 2023.

The number of passengers on domestic flights, however, decreased by one per cent while the number of passengers on international flights increased by 10 per cent from the previous year.

In July 2024, Helsinki Airport accounted for 91 per cent of all passengers at domestic airports.

The share of international flights in all air traffic continued to grow.

During January to July in 2024, the volumes of both air passengers and freight and mail transport were higher than in the same period in 2023.

Nearly 90 per cent of air traffic passengers travelled on international flights in July

In July 2024, a total of 1.6 million passengers flew through Helsinki Airport and altogether 150,000 passengers flew through other domestic airports. Compared to July 2023, the total number of passengers was 9 per cent higher at Helsinki Airport and 2 per cent higher at other domestic airports.

Eighty-nine per cent of the air traffic passengers travelled on international flights and 11 per cent on domestic flights in July 2024.

The share of passengers on international flights was 94 per cent at Helsinki Airport and 40 per cent in total at other domestic airports. Of all passengers, 95 per cent travelled on scheduled flights.
