British city Manchester is taking inspiration in its fight to tackle rough sleeping from Finland's capital Helsinki, reported British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

The approach to make Helsinki free from homelessness has cost the Finnish government 300 million euros over the last decade but has made rough sleeping virtually non-existent in the city, said the BBC report.

Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham said after implementing a similar approach that "we've turned a corner", said the report, adding that Burnham made tackling rough sleeping one of his top priorities and pledged to end rough sleeping in the region by 2020.
