Finland condemns Manchester terrorist attack

The President, Sauli Niinistö and Prime Minister Juha Sipilä on Tuesday strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Manchester, United Kingdom and expressed profound shock at the deaths of innocent people.

“The terrorist attack on a concert venue full of young people reflects the ruthless inhumanity of the attacker. On behalf of the Finnish people, I present my sincere condolences to the friends and families of the victims. Finland strongly condemns any and all acts of terror,” Niinistö said in a statement issued by the President’s office.

The Prime Minister also condemned the attack and expressed empathy towards the family members of the victims.

“Shocked by the news from Manchester. Strongly condemn the horrible attack. Our thoughts go out to the victims, their families and friends,” Sipilä wrote in his twitter after the incident.

Manchester police confirmed that the blast was reported to them at 22:33 hours summer time (2133 GMT) at the end of a pop concert by US singer Ariana Grande.
