The City of Helsinki has decided to introduce parking fees at Ruskeasuo and Oulunkylä Sports Parks from November 17, said the city in a press release on Tuesday.

As per the decision, the fee will be 1 euro per commenced hour at Ruskeasuo Sports Park. The parking charge at Oulunkylä Sports Park will be 1 euro per commenced three-hour period, followed by €0.50 per commenced hour.

The charges apply to the car park on the Käskynhaltijantie side, while the car park on the Hirsipadontie side will remain free of charge. Parking charges apply 24 hours a day throughout the year, including to accessible parking spaces. When paying via an app or online, a service fee based on the selected payment service provider’s price list will be added to the parking charge.

However, it is possible, for example, to drop off or pick up a child attending an activity or visit the Rinki recycling point free of charge, as the first 15 minutes in the car park are free.

There is no need to use a parking disc when parking in these areas. If the parking charge is not paid via an app, at a payment machine or on the parkkimaksu.fi website within 48 hours, the vehicle owner will be issued a parking control charge of €49.

If a vehicle is parked in the area in breach of the parking regulations, a parking attendant may issue a parking control charge of €60 while the vehicle is parked.

“The costs of maintaining and managing sports facilities have increased. Revenue from parking charges will enable us to maintain free-of-charge sports facilities and help reduce pressure to increase the prices of paid sports services. At the same time, we are standardising parking practices across different sports facilities and encouraging customers to use public transport and other low-emission modes of transport when travelling to sports facilities,” said Anu Jokela, Head of the Sports Facilities Unit at the City of Helsinki

Sports Services.
