President Alexander Stubb and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday held a telephone conversation and discussed about the ongoing Russia’s war against Ukraine and diplomatic efforts to end the war, the Presidents wrote in their social media posts.
“I had a good phone call with Zelenskyy of Ukraine. We went through the state of play of the negotiations. We will continue our political, financial and defence support for Ukraine and our active diplomacy to end the war and achieve a just and sustainable peace in Ukraine,” Stubb wrote on his X late Sunday night.
Zelenskyy on his X wrote that it is important that the trilateral meeting of the Ukrainian, American, and Russian technical teams does take place and the teams work constructively.
“Thank you, Alex, for your unwavering support and coordination of our efforts. We discussed our diplomatic work for the coming weeks, including our key objectives and next steps,” he said, adding, “we are all expecting de-escalatory steps from Russia. And we need clear signals from Putin that he is ready to end the war.”
Stubb and Støre initiated the call from Helsinki to discuss Russia’s war against Ukraine and the diplomatic efforts to end the war and promote peace and stability in Europe as a follow-up of the meeting held in Oslo on 20 October.
The call was related to the upcoming meetings to be held in Abu Dhabi.
