20 killed in road mishaps in Finland in August

A total of 20 persons were killed and 332 others injured in 259 road accidents in Finland in August this year, according to Statistics Finland.
The number of fatalities was two higher and the number of persons injured 15 higher than in August 2025.
Of the persons who were killed in August 2026, six travelled by passenger car, five by motorcycles and one by lorry.
Two pedestrians, one rider of light electric vehicle and three riders of electric bicycles were also killed. In addition, two other road users were killed.
Among those who died, 16 were men and four women.
Meanwhile, a total of 116 persons were killed and 2,003 others injured in 1,579 road traffic accidents in the country from January to August 2026.
