Another immigrant comes under knife attack in Oulu

Miscreant stabbed another immigrant background man with sharp weapon and injured him critically at Kaukovainio area in Oulu late Friday night, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place at a pedestrian crossing near the intersection of Joutsentie and Kainuuntie at about 7:50 p.m. when a man riding a bicycle attacked the victim with knife from the backside and left the scene.

He sustained wounds at the upper part of his body and taken to Oulu University Hospital, but police said that his condition was not life threating.

Police requested information from witness to find out the attacker.

They are investigating into the incident as attempted murder.

Several incidents of attack on immigrants took place in Oulu during the recent years.

On June 6, 2026 a woman with immigrant background came under a suspected racist attack in Oulu.

Earlier in September 2024, a 23-year-old local man attacked the student of Kastelli high school with a knife on the road in between the school and Oulu University Hospital.

Police found racial motivation in the stabbing. The suspect had some degree of longer-term hostile attitudes towards immigrants.

Earlier on June 19, 2024 miscreant stabbed a foreign background student and injured him critically outside of the Valkea shopping centre in Oulu.

On June 13, 2024 a 12-year-old child with foreign background was injured when a man with the background of extreme right activities attacked the child with knife at Valkea shopping centre in Oulu.
