Finland´s population on wane despite higher immigration

Finland's population decreased by 2,729 persons during January-April period of 2026, according to Statistics Finland.

The decrease in population was due to natural decline. The number of births was 5,371 lower than that of deaths.

There were 15,423 births and 20,794 deaths in the first four months of this year.

The number of immigrants, however, was 2,616 higher than that of emigrants.

There were 13,018 immigrants and 10,402 emigrants in January-April 2026.

Country´s population was 5,650,152 at the end of April 2026.

Finland's population decreased by 1,948 persons during January-March period.
