The Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) decided to deport a record number of immigrants in 2025, who were convicted in various criminal cases, reported a leading Finnish language national daily the Helsingin Sanomat on Friday.
The authority ordered to deport a total of 169 convicted criminal last year and the number is more than 30 percent higher compared to the previous year, said the report, quoting Migri.
Most of the deportees were men and citizens of Iraq, Estonia and Russia.
Meanwhile, Migri made a total of 2,774 deportation decisions in 2025 and the number is 41-percent higher than the previous year, said Migri in January this year.
The agency also deported 3,128 people who had been living in Finland illegally and the number was 2884 in 2024.
The number of deportations increased due to the changes to the law and intensified follow-up monitoring and an increasing number of deportation proposals made by the police, according to Migri.
