Finland condoles at school shooting victims in Canada

Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen on Wednesday expressed profound shock at the victims of the school shooting in Western Canada on Tuesday.

“Devastated to hear of the fatal shooting in Tumbler Ridge, Canada. On behalf of my Government and myself I would like to express my deepest condolences to the victims' families and friends and to the Canadian people,” Orpo wrote in a post on his social media platform X.

He also said that Finland stands with Canada in this time of sorrow.

“Heartbreaking news from Tumbler Ridge, Canada. My thoughts are with the victims, the students, and their families as they grieve an unimaginable loss. Finland stands with Canada in this time of sorrow,” Valtonen wrote on her X.

At least 10 people, including the suspected gunman, were killed in a shooting at a school in Western Canada on Tuesday.
