Spectator, who became ill during Finland-Poland match, dies

The spectator, who became ill during the World Cup qualifying match between Finland and Poland in Helsinki Olympic Stadium late Tuesday night, died early Wednesday, police said.

The spectator suddenly became ill at 80th minute of the game prompting the referee to suspend the match for more than 40 minutes.

Doctors of the teams and stadium together with emergency service people tried to resuscitate the spectator at the stadium and later the spectator was taken to the hospital in a critical condition where the person succumbed to the illness.

Police, however, did not divulge the details about the illness and the identity of the deceased.

Police also did not suspect any crime link to the death.
