Prime Minister Sanna Marin on Friday said that she took a drug test against the backdrop of accusations following the leakage of video footage in social media where she was seen dancing and singing.

"I have today taken a drug test, and the results will come within a week," she told reporters at the PM's official residence Kesäranta in the afternoon.

"I have never used drugs in my life," said the Premier.

Replying to a query, Marin also said that to her knowledge, she has never been present around drug use.

She said her ability to discharge official duties remained unaffected during the incident and that she would have left the party to go work, if necessary.

Prime Minister Sanna Marin is facing strong criticism from political parties following leakage of her partying video footage in social media.

Leader of the main opposition Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party) Riikka Purra in an interview with a leading Finnish language newspaper called on her to voluntarily take a drug test.

Mikko Kärnä, a lawmaker of Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party), a component of the five-party alliance government on Thursday in a twitter post also demanded that the Prime Minister should take a drug test.
