Prime Minister Sanna Marin is facing strong criticism from political parties following leakage of her partying video footage in social media where she was seen dancing and singing.

Leader of the main opposition Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party) Riikka Purra in an interview with a leading Finnish language newspaper called on her to voluntarily take a drug test.

Mikko Kärnä, a lawmaker of Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party), a component of the five-party alliance government on Thursday in a twitter post also demanded that the Prime Minister should take a drug test.

The Premier, however, straightway denied the allegation of taking drugs saying that she only drank mild alcohol and just partied "in a boisterous way", local and international media reported.

In the video footage published in social media where Marin along with friends including Finnish celebrities are seen dancing and singing.

The Prime Minister on Thursday also said that she is ready to take a drug test if necessary, reported national broadcaster Yle.

"I have nothing to hide. I have never taken drugs," said the Yle report, quoting Marin as saying while talking to journalists at Kuopio airport, where she was attending the congress of her party Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP).

Marin, however, said she did not understand why there were calls for her to take a drug test.

The Premier said that the videos are private and were filmed in a private residence a few weeks ago.

She told journalists on Thursday morning that she was aware about the filming but thought that the videos would remain private, the Yle report added.

"I am upset that these videos have become public. It was about me having a night out with friends. Partying -- even in a boisterous way -- dancing and singing," reported Yle, quoting the PM as saying.

Earlier in last year, the Prime Minister apologised for going clubbing after coming into close contact with a Covid-19 case.
