President Sauli Niinistö has tested positive for a COVID-19 virus on Tuesday, said the President Office in a press release.

The infection prompted the President to postpone his official visit to Norway scheduled for 21–22 April.

The President’s and the Minister of Education’s question session with pupils on 20 April will be also postponed.

Despite the infection, the President is well and continuing to work remotely.

Earlier in October 2021, Niinistö started self-quarantine due to COVID-19 exposure but ended the quarantine after the result of the coronavirus test for him was found negative.
