President Sauli Niinistö on Monday ended his self-quarantine after the result of the coronavirus test for him was found negative.
The President in a twitter post also said that he resumed normal activities.
“I return to normal activities. Not (infected) with corona,” wrote Niinistö in his twitter in Finnish, adding that vaccination protects and waiting for the third (dose).
The President also held a telephone conversation with his Estonian counterpart Alar Karis, who is expected to visit Helsinki next week.
“A good first phone call with President @AlarKaris. I look forward to seeing you in Helsinki next week, as the visit last Thursday unfortunately had to be postponed,” Niinistö wrote in another twitter post in the afternoon.
The first visit of President of Estonia Alar Karis to Finland, which was earlier scheduled for October 14 had been postponed due to COVID-19 exposure.
On October 14, Niinistö started self-isolation after he was exposed to the coronavirus.
The exposure occurred at Malmö International Forum on Holocaust on October 13, as Niinistö had a discussion with President of Latvia Egils Levits during breakfast. Levits later tested positive for COVID-19.
As a precaution, Niinistö decided to go for self-isolation and take a COVID-19 test.
