6 more African swine flu cases detected in Finland

The Finnish Food Authority found six new cases of African swine fever (ASF) in wild pigs in the infected area in Southeastern Finland, said an official press release on Tuesday.
The authority on Monday completed the examinations of the dead pigs and all of the pigs found in Virolahti municipality, the same area, which was already earmarked as infected zone.
Samples of two other pigs were also examination at the same time but none of the two was infected in swing flu.
Meanwhile, the authority continued searches for the infected pigs in the area to determine about expanding the core area.
Earlier this month, the Finnish Food Authority found 11 new cases of African swine fever (ASF) in wild pigs in the infected zone area in Southeastern Finland.
In late July 2026, the first cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) has been detected in wild pigs at Vaalimaa in Virolahti, a municipality in Eastern Finland near Russian border.
