HBO Max documentary focuses Marin-led outgoing Finnish govt

A documentary on the outgoing five-party alliance government led by Prime Minister Sanna Marin will be telecast on HBO Max in this summer, said HBO Max in a press release on Thursday.

The documentary named Viisi valittua, (First Five) highlighted the five female ministers, also Chairpersons of the five ruling parties, reported Variety.

The “First Five” are Sanna Marin of Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP), Annika Saarikko of Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party of Finland), Maria Ohisalo of Vihreäliitto (Green League), Li Andersson of Vasemmistoliitto (Left Alliance) and Anna-Maja Henriksson of Suomenruotsalainenkansanpuolue (Swedish People’s Party of Finlan–RKP).

Consisting of three 35-minute-long episodes, the “First Five” is the HBO Max’s first Finnish documentary series, said the Variety report, adding that the streamer previously published an anthology series of Finnish short films called “At Home Finland (Eristyksissä)” and an entertainment show called “True Story Finland.”

Marin, a 34- year old leader of SDP became the Prime Minister of Finland, the youngest Prime Minister in the world in December, 2019 and formed the cabinet including the female ministers from all the components of the alliance.

Marin faced various crisis including the Coronavirus pandemic and Russia´s invasion of Ukraine during her regime as a Prime Minister and tackled the situation successfully.

The series is produced by FremantleMedia Finland Oy and directed by Mia Halme. Executive producers for HBO Max are Hanka Kastelicova and Christian Wikander.
