The Helsinki of Helsinki wants to be a city where human rights are realised comprehensively and where no one is harassed or discriminated against and encouraged its employees to mark the Helsinki Pride, Finland’s largest human rights and culture event.

The Helsinki Pride is being celebrated throughout June.

The event culminates in Helsinki Pride Week from 27 June to 3 July and City of Helsinki personnel can get into the spirit of Pride during the pre-Pride Week, which is held this week under the patronage of Mayor Juhana Vartiainen, said the City of Helsinki in a press release.

“We are promoting this goal with ambitious city-level equality and non-discrimination plans, among other things. City personnel also play a significant role in promoting equality and non-discrimination. This year’s Pride theme, Encounters, underlines the value of community spirit. The same value is of paramount importance for the whole city, so we want to create spaces, events and opportunities for encounters between people. This is why Helsinki Pride is a very important event of cooperation for us,” said Vartiainen.

Work communities are invited to join Pride walks (We Walk with Pride) to show their support for an equal and non-discriminatory city.

During the week, there is a discussion event for personnel on diverse work communities, as well as a Pride training session, which has been very popular in previous years.

The main event week of Helsinki Pride is from 27 June to 3 July. Equality and non-discrimination are celebrated all week around the city.

The event is organised by the Helsinki Pride community, which works all year round to promote the rights of sexual and gender minorities.

The City of Helsinki is one of the main partners of Helsinki Pride Week.
