Finnish film Hytti nro 6 shortlisted for Oscar

Finnish film Hytti nro 6 (Compartment No. 6), directed by Juho Kuosmanen shortlisted along with 14 other films for Oscar award on Tuesday from the International Feature Film category.

This this first time for any Finnish Feature Film to reach this stage since the country has been representing in the category for the last 20 years, reported national broadcaster Yle.

The final nominations for the Oscar award will be announced on 8 February 8, and the Academy Awards will be presented on 27 March.

Hytti nro 6 has already won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in July this year. The film is in contention for the Golden Globe Award for Best Non-English Language Film, which will be presented in Los Angeles on January 7.
