Turnover in industry grows by 11.8% in August

Working day adjusted turnover in industry increased by 11.8 per cent in August 2026 from August 2025, according to Statistic Finland.

Turnover grew most in the chemical industry, by 32.1 per cent from one year earlier.

Turnover increased by 17.1 per cent in the electronic and electrical industry and by 13.1 per cent in the metal industry from one year earlier.

Turnover also went up in the textile, clothing and leather industry (2.9%), the food industry (2.8%) and the forest industry (1.3%).

Turnover was lower than one year ago in mining and quarrying (13.9%) and in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (3.7%).

Export turnover grew in nearly all main industries in August from one year back. The growth was strongest in the chemical industry, where export turnover was 37.6 per cent higher than one year ago.

Export turnover in the electronic and electrical industry increased by 19.1 per cent and in the metal industry by 13.5 per cent from one year ago.

Export turnover also went up in the textile, clothing and leather industry (6.3%), the food industry (3.8%) and the forest industry (1.6%). Export turnover decreased only in mining and quarrying, by 37.9 per cent from the previous year.

Domestic turnover grew in all main industries in August from the previous year. Domestic turnover increased most in the chemical industry (22.3%) and mining and quarrying (20.2%). Domestic turnover was 11.8 per cent higher in the metal industry and 6.9 per cent higher in the electronic and electrical industry than one year earlier. Domestic turnover also grew in the forest industry (3.9%), the food industry (2.6%) and the textile, clothing and leather industry (0.4%).

Seasonally adjusted turnover in industry increased by 0.2 per cent in August 2026 compared to July. Turnover decreased by 1.0 per cent in July and grew by 3.0 per cent in June compared to the month before.
