Finnish networking technology company Nokia has taken an initiative to cut 253 employees in Finland, reported a leading Finnish language national daily Helsingin Sanomat on Wednesday

The company informed its employees individually about the move but did not make the decision public, said the report.

According to the plan, the company will reduce its manpower in Espoo, Tampere and Oulu and the co-determination talks in this regard will begin on October 12.

Nokia employs about a total of 6,800 people in Finland and the job reduction move has been taken to save the operating costs of the company from 800 million euros to 1200 million euros by the end of this year.
