Finland posts €1.9b trade surplus in June

The trade balance was in surplus of EUR 1.9 billion in June 2026, according to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods released by Finnish Customs on Friday.

In January-June, the aggregated trade deficit amounted to EUR 1.1 billion.

In June 2025, the trade balance was EUR 390 million in surplus and in January-June of the same year, the aggregated deficit was EUR 645 million.

According to the statistics, the value of Finnish exports increased by 39.6 per cent in June year-on-year. The value of Finnish exports in June was EUR 9.0 billion. Export volume increased by 31.9 per cent and export prices increased by 6.0 per cent year-on-year.

The volume of imports increased by 6.3 per cent in June and import prices increased by 7.7 per cent compared to June 2025. The value of Finnish imports increased by 17.6 per cent. Value of imports was EUR 7.2 billion.

In January-June 2026, the aggregated value of exports increased by 14.4 per cent and the value of imports by 15.4 per cent year-on-year.

In January-June 2026, year-over-year change of the aggregated average for export volume was 7.4 per cent. The corresponding figure for import volume was 7.5 per cent.

Value of exports to EU member states increased by 12.8 per cent and grew to non-EU countries by 71.3 per cent in June compared to the same month the previous year. The volume of exports to EU countries increased by 4.6 per cent and increased to non-EU countries by 62.0 per cent during the same time.

Calculated from the beginning of the year, the value of exports to EU countries grew by 5.3 per cent and to non-EU countries by 27.1 per cent. The volume of exports to EU member states decreased by 1.6 per cent, but the volume of exports to non-EU countries increased by 20.0 per cent calculated according to the year-over-year change of the aggregated average of export volume.

The volume of imports from EU member states remained at the level of the previous year in June but increased from non-EU countries by 14.2 per cent year-over-year.

In January-June, the volume of imports from EU member states increased by 4.5 per cent and from non-EU countries by 11.2 per cent calculated according to the year-over-year change of the aggregated average of import volume.
