2 injured after passenger's gun goes off during security check at Indian airport

At least two people were injured after a licensed pistol of an Air India Express passenger went off during security screening Sunday at the airport in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, police said, reported Xinhua.
The firing incident took place at the airport in Varanasi, about 292 km southeast of Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh.
According to police, the accidental firing occurred when the passenger's weapon and its ammunition were being inspected during the security check.
"A female security staff member was hit on the leg, and another person standing nearby was hit on the thumb," police said. "Both have been sent to a private hospital for treatment."
Police said appropriate legal action was being taken in the matter.
