Three Palestinians were killed and several others seriously wounded on Thursday in an Israeli airstrike targeting a police security post west of Gaza City, according to eyewitnesses and Palestinian security sources, reported Xinhua.

The Hamas-run interior authorities in Gaza said in a brief statement that Israeli aircraft "targeted a guard post at a security headquarters" in the Ansar area, west of Gaza City, causing deaths and injuries.

Eyewitnesses told Xinhua that an Israeli helicopter fired a missile at the security post located in front of the Hamas Internal Security headquarters.

The witnesses added that the airstrike killed two people and wounded several others, including two in critical condition who were rushed to the hospital. A third Palestinian later died of his wounds from the attack at Gaza's Al-Shifa Hospital.

There was no immediate response from the Israeli army on this incident.

The attack comes amid military escalation in the Gaza Strip despite a fragile ceasefire agreement reached in October 2025, with Israeli airstrikes continuing to kill and wound Palestinians intermittently.

On Wednesday, Gaza-based health authorities said that Gaza Strip hospitals received nine dead and 39 wounded in the past 24 hours.

According to official figures, 846 people have been killed and 2,418 wounded since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, 2025. The overall death toll since October 7, 2023, has risen to 72,628, with 172,520 wounded.
