Azerbaijan has achieved peace with Armenia in practice, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said Wednesday, reported Xinhua.
"We not only achieved peace on paper ... but we have peace on the ground also," Aliyev said at a press conference, referring to the peace agreement initialed by Azerbaijan and Armenia.
"There can be nothing better than peace. Believe me, we know what it is like to live in a situation of war or to be at war. So countries like ours value peace maybe more than any other," he said.
Aliyev added that after the peace agreement was reached, connectivity is an important part of their bilateral portfolio. "The new opportunities for the extension of the Middle Corridor obviously are increasing our optimism."
He also noted that Azerbaijan and Armenia have begun trade, including Azerbaijan's supply of critical oil products to Armenia, adding that Baku has lifted all the restrictions on the transit of cargo from other countries to Armenia through Azerbaijani territory.
