Flights resume after fire at Bangladesh's main airport

A blaze that broke out at the cargo village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday afternoon has been fully brought under control, reported Xinhua.

Flight operations resumed later in the evening, according to the Bangladeshi Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.

The fire, which erupted at around 2:15 p.m. local time, was contained following a prompt and coordinated effort by the fire service and airport authority, while no casualties were reported in the accident, said the ministry in a late Saturday press release.

The airport authority also confirmed that flight operations had resumed.
