Iran announced Monday that it has resumed fuel exports to Afghanistan, reported Xinhua, quoting Tasnim news agency.

Hamid Hosseini, the spokesman of Iranian Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Products Exporters Union, said that "fuel exports to Afghanistan have resumed after a period of suspension."

"Given the recent developments in Afghanistan, some Iranian businessmen had concerns about the security situation in the country and were cautious," Hosseini was quoted as saying.

Earlier, Hassan Rahimizadeh, director general of South Khorasan Province Customs, said that the province's borders with Afghanistan were completely secure.
