Finns win 6 medals as expected at Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics

Finland won a total of six medals at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which ended in Italy on Sunday.
Although the Finns had to satisfied without any gold, the total number of medals including one silver and five bronzes was as per the expectation made by the Finnish Olympic Committee before the event.
Eero Hirvonen and Ilkka Herola won the lone silver for the country in the men's Nordic combined team sprint.
Ilkka Herola won bronze for Finland in the Nordic Combined Individual Gundersen Large Hill/10km. while Suvi Minkkinen won bronze in the women’s 10km biathlon pursuit.
Eero Hirvonen brought first medal for Finland after he won bronze in the men's normal hill Nordic combined at Milan-Cortina winter Olympic 2026 while Johanna Matintalo, Kerttu Niskanen, Vilma Ryytty and Jasmi Joensuu won second bronze for Finland in the women's 4x7.5-kilometer relay of cross-country skiing.
The last medal of this Olympics was won by Finnish Men´s Ice Hockey team, which won bronze beating Slovakia by 6 goals to 1.
A delegation of 102 Finnish athletes participated in the Winter Olympics held from February 6 to 22.
Norway placed top on the medal table with a total of 41 medals including 18 golds followed by United States, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany and France with 12, 10, 10, 8 and 8 golds respectively.
Another Nordic country Sweden bagged 18 medals including 8 gold while Denmark won only one silver.
