Finland score easy victory against Denmark

Defending champion Finland scored an easy victory beating Denmark by seven goals to one in the Ice Hockey World Championship 2023 at Nokia Arena in Tampere late Tuesday night.

The Lions completely dominated over the Nordic neighbours in the last group match and will face the defending runners-up Canada in the quarterfinal of the tournament scheduled to be held on Thursday.

Captain Marko Anttila opened the scoring for the Finns at the third minute of the match and took the lead 1-0 and Atte Ohtamaa widened the gap on the following minute.

Ville Pokka continued the scoring flow defeating Danish goalkeeper George Sorensen at the 19th minute while second period goals by Hannes Bjorninen, Juho Lammikko and Kasperi Kapanen and third period goal by Nikolas Matinpalo helped the Finns to build the big difference.

Nikolaj Ehlers scored the lone goal for Denmark after consuming seven goals at the 43rd minute resulting end of the match 7-1.
