The Finnish Red Cross will donate 100,000 euros from its disaster relief fund to help the victims of the conflict in Yemen, said the organisation in a press release.

The Finnish Red Cross, however, said that money and relief alone are not enough stressing the importance of respecting the rules of war in turning the situation in Yemen for the better.

The Finnish Red Cross will channel relief help to Yemen which has been embroiled in a five-year conflict.

Eighty percent of Yemeni resident equivalent to 22 million people are currently critical conditions without basic humanitarian supplies such as food, clean water or health care.

Despite the security risks, the International Red Cross together with the Red Crescent have been able to provide among other things, vital health care and medicines.

"We deliver help where we can owing to the current security situation. For example, supporting hospitals and health clinics help people who otherwise would be completely without healthcare," said Finnish Red Cross humanitarian help coordinator Niklas Saxén.
