President President Sauli Niinistö will undergo a hip surgery on Wednesday, said the Office of the President in a press release.

The president, however, will continue to discharge his duties despite the surgery.

Physicians recommended him not to make air travel for about one month after the surgery.

The Office of the President revealed that the surgery was planned well in advance and the people were informed about the condition of the president in May 2018.
