Finland will send ammunition for F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine in the coming days, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after holding a telephone conversation with Finnish President Alexander Stubb on Saturday.
“We’ll receive ammunition for our F-16s in the coming days. This is what’s currently enabling us to shoot down jet-powered “shaheds,” Zelenskyy wrote in a post on his social media platform X.
Stubb also wrote in his X about the telephone conversation and said that Finland announced its 35th support package on Friday.
“Spoke with Zelenskyy of Ukraine. Three key elements urgent: air defence, energy installations and financial assistance. Finland announced its 35th support package yesterday (Friday). Air defence as key component. We are doing everything we can to protect Ukrainian civilians,” Stubb wrote in the post.
The Ukrainian President briefed Stubb on the latest Russian strikes.
“Of course, we also discussed a new challenge: additional revenue for Russia from petroleum product exports, which can be used to finance further Russian aggression. We’re preparing meetings and coordinating steps that can be useful under the current circumstances,” Zelenskyy added.
Earlier on Friday, the Ministry of Defence said that Finland will deliver its 35th materiel assistance package to Ukraine.
The overall value of the package to be delivered now to Ukraine is around EUR 1 million.
It contains items of a single defence product donated from the Finnish Defence Forces’ stocks.
Finland has already started preparations for the next, broader package.
The total value of the defence materiel Finland has delivered to Ukraine has now reached EUR 3.6 billion.
